Follow a Forum?
November 08, 2007 10:27AM
I know I can follow a thread (i.e. receive notifications) but is there a way to follow a forum? For example, I'd want to know if anyone posts anything to the North Carolina forum.

For the time being, I've plugged the url into Google Reader but I was wondering if there's an alternate way.

You can use an RSS feed reader to follow a forum. (Google Reader is a webpage-based feed reader, so I suppose that's what you're doing.)

If you are using firefox, you can use the inbuilt 'live bookmarks' to follow the forum. Click on the orange box at the right hand side of the address bar and select "Subscribe to this feed".

I personally was pretty happy with Sage, an RSS feed reader which is a firefox extension:
[sage.mozdev.org]

More recently, I tried Wizz RSS, which is much like sage:
[addons.mozilla.org]

Here are some other Firefox feed readers:
[cybernetnews.com]

That's the extent of my experience with RSS feeds. I haven't used Thunderbird or other stand-alone feed readers, or other browsers.

Also, if you like, we can set up a dedicated mailing list for the North Carolina forum.
Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
