Good day all.
My first 3d printer was Soliddoodle3. It has been off for about 12-24 months now. I set-up repetier server on raspberry pi, I changed extruder and hot-end to an all metal unit, I used mirror with capton and hair spray, Managed to print stuff successfully in ABS as well as nylon.
But the act of printing always felt like a science project in itself. (extruder eating the fillament, hot end getting clogged by hairspray, parts curling even through they are only 10%fill, parts disbonding, etc) Eventually got tired of "messing with the printer" and that is why it has been collecting dust for over a year. All of the above mentioned issues can be overcome, but that can be a hassle.
I am now looking to see if the consumer printers have evolved enough for me to
want to re-enter the printing scene. Please suggest a new 3d printer that fits below criteria, if such a unit exists:
1. Mostly just works (not a science project like SD3 was)
2. Can print at high temperatures (Nylon)
3. Can print in 2 separate materials at the same time (goal is to use PLA or PVA as support material for an ABS or Nylon parts)
4. Works with Linux PC (supporting software is not limited to windows)
5. Sub $2K price tag
6. 8x8x8 or bigger volume.
Any suggestions or is resurrecting / re-finetunning my sd3 is still my best bet?
Thanks ahead.
