Stumbled across this on Alixexpress, and was wondering if anyone has tried one?

It's a copy of this one: [reprap.org]

Wow! And for under $40!

Yes, it's definitely a clone, but it still looks pretty awesome. I wonder how its performance compares to a genuine Diamond.

Yes, that's a lot of hotend for the money. I'm guessing you might need to spend some time polishing up the cold ends, but I'd be happy to do that for the price. I've been intending to re-design my X axis for a dual direct extruder setup, but that thing is making me wonder...

There are a couple of downsides - I want to be able to print soft filaments like TPE, and bowden isn't great for that. I also like the idea of some of the more abrasive filaments where you really want to treat the nozzles as somewhat disposable. Fine when they cost 1 to 2 $, not such a neat idea for a $20 part. But it would be awesome for trying different alloys of more common filaments. I wonder what a 50/50 mix of petg and abs is like? Can you mix anything with delrin to stop it warping off the bed? So much fun...

Diamond hot end is released under Creative commons, Attribution, No commercial use without licence, Share alike

No Attribution was given, and I guarantee they haven’t got any licence.

Please do not buy from these thieves! Get a real diamond head.

I have e-mailed reprap.me to let them know. Its up to them if they wish to take further action.

I am the developer of the J-Head hot-end. If you want Reprap development to continue, support the companies that develop Reprap products. If you want to completely stop any serious Reprap development, keep buying chinese knock-offs.

Brian,

Can you machine a Diamond Hotend? Or even better a variation using standard J-head parts?

If so I would be interested. Shipped to the UK.

Hello,

I am sure I could. However, setting up the machines to make one would make for a very expensive part. I'd have to make a quantity of them. At the moment, I am still making and selling J-Heads so the machines are setup for J-head production.

Best Regards,

Brian
