SD card problems

Going to keep this is as short as possible.

Printer did work,

accidentally grounded the 2 pins between z and y axis end stop pins right after enabling pid instead of bang bang on my extruder (don't know how bang bang ever got turned on in the first place)

Now:
the screen contrast gets thrown off a lot, like when the heaters turn on/ off and when it is plugged into a computer or unplugged. In addition the 8gb SD card that came with it no longer works (used to work flawlessly). It says card inserted in the main screen but says no SD card when i go to start a print. When I unplug it it says card removed and when i plug it back in it turns off for a second then recovers.

Tried:
disabled pid and went back to bang bang, no change. saw that one mofset was only barely attached to the board, re-soldered it no change
If i send the printer the M21 command the card is instantly readable.

Possible complications?
my power supply only outputs 10.5-10.75 V when it should be 12v

Im using a Ramps 1.4 on a prusa i3 with marlin. Will be happy to provide any extra information you require

Thanks for any help you can offer in advance

It sounds like something was damaged when you shorted the endstops. Feel around for parts that are running hot. The low power supply voltage indicates that something is taking a lot of current.

... the shorting most likely wrecked the 5V-regulator on the Arduino Mega - replacing the regulator should do it again ...

The power supply has always run low on voltage, even brand new not connected to anything

So this is fixable?

Looked into it more, it is definitely a broken 5v regulator
Thank you for helping with the diagnosis
