Herringbone gears - awesome!

I thought I'd have a go at designing my own extruder (yes, wheel re-invention, it's a weakness of mine), so I printed out a set of herringbone gears to play with. I'm very impressed with the design on these, the fit and smoothness of the mesh is amazing. There seem to have been quite a few people involved over the years, so a big thank you to everyone that contributed. Finding little nuggets like this is a big part of the fun of getting involved in 3d printing

Pics...I might have to get some myself soon, but there's only plastic printed ones on ebay, even though probably helps weight saving a little but I been holding back hoping some metal ones would show up...and they just did

There's actually quite a few but not many for 5mm shaft, and the part to mate it with isn't metal but I think they are too large for printer use.

Just salvaged these sexy little beasts, from an old lens focus assist, dont know how I can use them at the moment, but nice handy shafts with backlash adjustment. Cant fit them together in herringbone pattern though.

Cool! What size nozzle did you use for that? [edit] Ah, I see - I should have followed the link. SLS sounds pretty wild.
