Yes the mini fabrikator has a few issues. Is your mini fabrikator a V1.5?? (i.e a new one?)
If so then Hobbyking turned down the operating voltage that the motors work at. The original mini fabrikators had an issue which allowed too much voltage to the motors which would get very hot and then cease to work and eventually melt the plastic frames.
So the result is sometimes the printer has low-voltage, weak motors which are so weak that they cannot activate the micro switches signifying when the end points have been reached. What you need to do is actually give the motors a helping hand. Push the bed and the nozzle in the desired direction until it activates the switch. Note that you'll only have to do this when you want to auto-home the printer. Whilst it is printing the motors are fine and plenty strong enough.
Or alternatively you may want to increase the voltage of the motors which can be done by turning pots on the bottom of the printer control board. However, you run the risk of increasing the voltage too much and then overheating the motors.
I hope some of this helps
Cheers,
