If you are using an identical belt and identical pulley for the X and Y axis should the steps/mm be the same for both?

When I was attempting to calibrate my printer I ended up having different steps/mm for both of those axis. It dawned on me today as I was trying to print a circular object and it came out as an oval.

Have you aligned the axes? If they are not 90 degrees apart circles will turn oval.

You can check it by printing a large square or rectangular shape and then measuring the diagonals. If they are the same the axes are square.

... then check, if the microstep settings are identical ... sometimes the jumpers or pin-definitions can be faulty ...
