Maxtemp Error- Chinese E3D V6
April 02, 2016 09:51PM
I recently bought a Chinese E3D V6 hotend. It pretty much came with everything, it came with a 100K NTC thermister or at least that is what the product description says . I am using RAMPS 1.4 with Marlin. I am getting 358C temp with a Max Temp error. The thermister is connected properly so I don't know what is causing the error. I can change the thermister but then I'd have to take out the one it came with nice put together. If this problem can be solved without changing it then it would be great. Any suggestions guys? Thanks!

Take your multimeter and check the resistance at the plug that connects to the RAMPS board. Make sure it's giving a sane value.

Also, check that you have the right kind of thermistor selected in the Marlin config file.

Thanks for your reply. I don't know why I didn't think of it but you are right should have checked the resistance. The thermister was shorting out and giving me a Max Temp error. Problem SOLVED! Thanks for the idea!

p.s Which option do you think I should choose for the correct thermister (Please check the attachment)? All it says that the thermister is 100K NTC that came with the Chinese E3D V6.

So which one would it be from the Marlin fw? Thanks.

1 should be ok, but it looks like you have an old version of Marlin. Mine has additional entries (1.0.3 dev from about May of last year) :

// 11 is 100k beta 3950 1% thermistor (4.7k pullup)
// 12 is 100k 0603 SMD Vishay NTCS0603E3104FXT (4.7k pullup) (calibrated for Makibox hot bed)
// 13 is 100k Hisens 3950 1% up to 300°C for hotend "Simple ONE " & "Hotend "All In ONE"
// 20 is the PT100 circuit found in the Ultimainboard V2.x
// 60 is 100k Maker's Tool Works Kapton Bed Thermistor beta=3950

I seem to remember using 11 at some point, but I don't remember if it was much different. I switched to Repetier a while back, so my memories of Marlin are a little fuzzy.
