Whats the most practical and easy way to use auto bed leveling probe with glass/acrylic build plate? Is acrylic plate recommended as its melting point is 160C so should technically spoil when close to the nozze

A BL Touch or a IR sensor like [miscsolutions.wordpress.com]
Most proximity sensors don't have enough range to work with glass, but it does work if you print on an aluminum bed.

Most use borosilicate glass or aluminum. Acrylic won't work, you wouldn't be able to remove the prints. The first layer would melt into the acrylic.

I've got a 2.5mm thick glass and can detect a double thickness of aluminium foil through it with an inductive sensor my z offset is 1.6mm so I've got a bit of headroom. It's very sensor dependant but they are cheap enough.
