Motor Control

Hi folks,

We are constructing a Mendel in LA, California area; mechanical construction is basically finished, and we just mounted and started hooking up the electronics (we have the TechZone gen 3 electronics). We hooked up the Z motor and tried stepping it forward from inside RepRap to make sure that it works, but nothing happens. Is there anything simple we might be missing?

... which firmware?

Maybe it's something simple like the two separate DIR/CLOCK-wires to D9/D10 or rising the motor current with the poti?

We should be using the 2010-08-06 (Another member of our group uploaded the firmware, so I need to double-check with her).

Have you hooked up your z-axis minimum endstop? If it is not connected, the motor will not move in one direction. If you keep moving it in the working direction, you will reach the maximum travel limit (this is a hard-coded number of millimeters unless you have enabled maximum endstops) and you will get no movement in either direction until you reset the motherboard.
