Extruder not heating

Extruder not heating

Hello,

I know this topic comes up all the time, but I still don't know what is wrong with my printer.

As this is my first 3D printer, I thought this extruder will do as I am only printing PLA.
Extruder I purchased

I am using Ramps 1.4+ Mega2560+ Marlin Combo with Repitier as my software.

All connections is correct and there are no loose wires.

When I connect the printer to my computer and try to preheat the extruder it doesn't heat and I get error messages.

If I leave the thermosistor in the Ramps and disconect the heater cartridge, then connect the heater to a AA battery it slowly heats up. I can read the temperature in Repitier and I can physically feel it.

I left it to heatup from 24 to 35 degrees Celcius. These temperatures are correct.

My firmware seems in order.

Here is my power supply. Low power because no heatbed.

PowerSupply

If anybody can think of anything please let me know.

Thank You!

which port did you plug your hot end into d8, d9 or d10?

D8 is normally heated bed, D9 is fan and D10 is hotend.

D10.

Every Ramps wiring online said to put it in D10

Do you have 12v going to the 5A 12v input on the RAMPS?
One input is fused by the 11A fuse, the other the 5A fuse

The hotend circuit uses the 5A fused input

What are the error messages? They may not mean much to you, but whoever wrote the software thought they would be useful.

The error messages I receive say the extruder didn't heat up in time and assumes the worst. So it shuts down the printer and then reboots it.

This is the exact message:

Error: Heating failed, system stopped! Heater_ID: 0
Error: Printer halted. kill() called!

The resistance of the heat cartridge is within the 5-6 Ohm range.

The board is receiving 12v to both the 11A and the 5A fuses.

However there is no voltage when I try to heat up the extruder.

Could something be wrong with the wiring on the PCB?

More likely is that the MOSFET has failed. Can you check the voltages on its pins?

I'm not sure how to check the voltages of the MOSFETs.

Do I check when there is power to the printer or when it is heating up.

Also the center one might be hard to test because of how close it is to the other components on the board.
