No LED Flashing

Running a mega2650 R3 and a ramps 1.4 - installed marlin to mega. win7 see the mega on com5. Then added the ramps and hooked it up via USB to win7.

Repetier connects but I can't control anything. On the ramp I don't see the LEDs next to the power output flashing. BAD BOARD?

Any help would be great.

or stepper drivers in backwards
or endstops wired from +5v to gnd shorting out the board

Thanks for the help. Driver in correctly, will need to check limit switches polarity.

Same with or with out limit switches, No LED activity.

Is there a test to see if a RAMP 1.4 board is working?

Use pronterface instead of repetier. Pronterface is for marlin, repetier host is for repetier firmware.

Meh, I use repetier host with Marlin firmware on my Mega/Ramps setup. It works, prints, etc... Some of the features like upload to the SD card might not work, but it works fine as a control and printing host. I actually use it to create a build plate, then let Repetier host slice it through slic3r since Slic3r likes to crash when you move or rearrange parts too quickly.. I really didn't like Pronterface.

Yeah, I was wondering about repetier being the cause of my issues. The old control board that I'm replacing was not an arduino and it's firmware was stuck using repetier 1.06. I was really looking forward to upgrading to the latest RH with this rebuild I'm doing on my 3d printer. I just wish I could get the RAMPs to respond.

Just got my new RAMPs board and still can't control a stepper with repetier or pronter. Arduino can upload blink or marlin. I see mega on com5. I only have one stepper connected to X. Do I need to hook everything up just to test RAMPs?

you have to fix the "Error:MINTEMP triggered"

all movement is suspended until that is fixed

This is the controller not able to read the thermistor on the hotend. This is normally a open circuit on the thermistor cable somewhere

This is a safety feature... you have to have the thermistor plugged in.

thanks, that did it. I'm now talking to the ramps. Side note "nebbian" I could not get repetier to work but pronter did, thanks. I so many people run tests with only just one stepper hooked up and nothing else. I hooked up everything but the power to the hotend and bed and then it worked. I still don't see the two LED TX and Rx flicker but it works.

What's your setup? Is this a new build, a repair? The best I can offer is try a new thermistor or swap the hotend with the bed thermistor.

You can continue to use Repetier with Marlin on RAMPS 1.4, if it isn't working something is not configured right. I have been using Repetier with Marlin 0.9 and 1.1.0 RCx for the last year with not a single problem. It is great software, the only reason I don't use it anymore is because I now use Replicape.
