Power Supply not starting?

Power Supply not starting?
August 20, 2016 11:01AM
I finally have the dual extruder assembled, and ready to go, I think.

I plugged it in to the 110 outlet, with switch set to 110. Plugged the usb into the computer,

Nothing has booted, Nothing on the power supply, and nothing has popped up under devices in window 8.1

Any advice?

Regards
Steven

Lots more details required

What type of power supply? ATX type or LED type?

How is the power supply set to turn on? via the controller or on all the time?

What type of reprap controller?

Has this ever worked? ie was this an upgrade to dual extruder from a working single extruder machine?

Thank you for your response.

Here is a photo of the power supply. No documentation, not sure the type.

It is a dual extruder kit, not an upgrade.

I have just assembled the unit, it is the first time getting things started.

I am not sure which controller board, but I have attached a photo.

I pushed the little reset button on the side of the controller card, with no results.

ThanX again for your help

Steven

Something doesn't look right in the second photo - could you take a close-up photo of your power supply wiring?

ThanX

would the power supply not have the fan on or an led light, when plugged in?

Extruder Heaters were both hot.

Heating bed was not.

when post 2+ was and 5- were hooked to the power supply.

I have now, hooked up post 3 and 6 with the sensor and fan leeds.
The Led light for the power supply is still going on.

Then I re connected the red on post 1 and black on post 4.

No Led on the power supply.

The problem, maybe the connections that power 1 and 4 post drive.

What next? To Check

Just when I thought this was the problem.

The 2 wires from the heating plate, going into the blue terminal. I re hooked them up, one side of the terminal plastic is crushed, a bit.

However, I think the connections are good.

But when I connect 1 red and 4 black post to the power supply. The LED on the power supply is still not lighting up.

In Summary,

Heating extruders are hot.
Heating plate is not getting hot.

With power supply hooked up to post 2+ and 5-.

When I hook up 1+ and 4-.

The LED on the power supply is not on.

TaDA

Any advice?

where does the wires "1+ and 4-" on the supply go to?
I suspect they go to power pins 3 and 4 on the Green plug. This would be the power for the heated bed.

What you have is known a a LED power supply, it should always be on when mains is applied, unless there is a short.

Your controller is a ramps

Please take a photo of the heated bed (top view with any connection information) and secondly a photo of how the wires are connected to the heated bed.

Good Morning,

Yes 1+ and 4- go to 3 and 4 on the board.

I took the wires off the blue terminal, going to the heating bed.
Then attached 1+ and 4-, and still no LED on.

The short lies in the boards? The blue terminal on the plus side was damage a bit when first attaching the wire. HHUUMM.

Picture showing the wires attached to the bed from the blue terminal.

Can the bed be directly connected to the power supply?

Thank you for your help Mistro.

Yes you can power the heated bed board directly by plugging it into the power supply normally. It will just heat up uncontrollably, so don't leave it like this.
