SD card/ Full graphic display puzzle
June 14, 2017 06:22AM
Hi.

I have two RRD full graphic displays with SD card reader.

One of them will only see an SD card if it is formatted FAT32 at 2GB or less.

The other can read an 8GB card no problem.

Firmware settings are (should be) the same.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

are they red pcb's?

If so its a cheap clone of a RRD glcd....

Sadly they use the cheapest components they can source at the time... I've not see two that are actually identical..

But the sd part is quite simple, just voltage converts on the spi bus... (sd cards are 3.3v)

As for your issue... that is quite weird.

One thought are you using real full sized SD cards? or micro sd with a converter card? maybe the converter card is weird?

I've found rearm boards and duetwifi boards that can't read sd cards that read fine in my pc. However they cheap as dirt so just try a bunch until you get some that work.

Hi.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Just regular SDHC cards -Sandisk.

One is class 10 which I partitioned from 8GB down to 2GB, works in both LCD's

The other is a class 4 8GB which works in one but not the other.

Both work in PC fine.

Both GLCD's are cheap clones from different sources. When I bought the first, I assumed there was a 2GB limit (like my old digi camera) hence the partition.

Strange, huh.

Neither GLCD's recognise an older SD (notHC) 16MB that I have.

Had a similar Problem just this weekend.

SD-Card was readable on one controller, but not the other.
Turned out, another SD-Card broke and left a really tiny plastic piece in the SD-Slot. Removed it, everything working again.
