Use of pololu decrease hot extruder motor?
April 01, 2011 09:31AM
Hello All (or more accurately all you pro's)

I am currently running my extrder stepper motor from the G3 extruder controller, ie. using the hack we all know and love (not)

I am planning to use a pololu stepper controller instead. Will this reduce the heat of my motor or is it just going to reduce the whine and errant steps when it is supposed to be doing nothing?

cheers

If you set it up for the same current it should produce the same heat in the motor. The advantage is it will lose the whine and give you better resolution.

If you have steps when it should be stationary that is either noise on the step line or more likely the ground between the MB and the EC, or the chips are getting too hot and shutting down for a while.
