Large scale (12") 3d printer as my first one...please help smiling smiley

Hi All! I'd like to buy a 3d prinmter, my first one, to make some shoe components, but it's sooo difficult choosing! Then I ask for your help.

Here what I need:

- Printing a lot of different materials, including TPU, Polycarbonate, Wood, Ceramics, Nylon, Nylon/carbon...

- Printing size at least 370x300 mm. Height on Z is not really important, 200 mm is enough!

- Great resolution // Speed is not important for me!

- Possibility to use double extruder or laser engraver

- I can buld a kit, no problem!

Currently I am looking:

- Creality CR-10 [www.gearbest.com]

- Folger Tech FT-5 R2 [folgertech.com]

- Formbot t-rex [www.formbot3d.com] (moooolto piĆ¹ costosa.Come mai?)

- Tevo Black Widow [tevo3dprinterstore.com]

- HE3D H500 [www.gearbest.com]

- Pegasus 12" [www.makerfarm.com]

My 2 cents, I'd go with the FT-5.
The R2 is a 24v machine (though still 8 bit)
The bed is Z, so tall skinny parts aren't a problem.
Plenty of mods available on Thingiverse, and decent community (if you join their FB page, can save $ by reading the sticky).
Enclosing it is simple, if you want a heated chamber or draft protection while printing ABS.
Plus, it can be converted to CoreXY and 32 bit if you ever feel the need.

After the recent business practices of Tevo have come to light, I would avoid them like the plague. They obviously don't care about their customers, or the community that makes their business possible in the first place.

Other then that, I would also say that he possibility to enclose a printer and a bed moving in Z is a big plus. The actual quality of all these printers is roughly the same and you certainly get what you pay for.

I've heard about the issues surrounding tevo recently, could you provide a link to someplace that has some more details? I cant seem to find anything on the subject when i try googling it.

Wood and Ceramics are certainly no option. Except you meant plastics that look like wood or ceramics.

Polycarbonate: I've never heard of a PC-filament? Anyone?
Nylon: requires full metal hotend.
TPU: best results with a direct drive extruder, but short Bowden tube extruders might also work

HobbyKing has PC filament. Need around 300C to print - that's hot.

Is it possible to upgrade FT-5 to dual extrusion according to you?
