In the few minutes a was browsing I saw many models that were just ripped from thingiverse.

Did you check own owned it on thingiverse? As the authors are allowed to host on multiple platforms.

True. They were different names, but I suppose nothing forces you to use the same account name in both platforms.

I didn't notice any licensing notification. Maybe I missed that.

Of course there is nothing stopping some a-hole from uploading something and lying about ownership etc... but that a failing of society as a whole not the platform.
