PEI, ABS and rapid cooling
April 17, 2020 01:30PM
Not sure if this belongs here or under fabrication somewhere but I have a general question. I'm running ABS (soon PETG, eventually PLA) on a PEI bed. I'm curious as if the chemicals in a can of compressed air would be harmful to either ABS or the PEI layer. It doesn't seem to have bothered it yet, but I'm worried of longer term effects and if there is a better method?

I'm running donation stuff for SARS-nCov-2 relief and at 2.5 hours is bad enough per run, but add a minimum of 30 min cooling time to drop the bed temp to 60 evenly to release it.

... superfast cooling will stress the surfaces mechanically and could create micro cracks or "brittleness" ...
