Melzi Board (Aurora Z605) - Temp swings - PID Autotune - EEPROM and firmware issues

Hello,

I have an Aurora Z605 3d printer , that comes with a Melzi 2 board, I'm having issues, here are my questions:

1- The firmware name, when I connect the printer, Repetier host reads this :
FIRMWARE_NAME:rrp UUID:00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000

2- in Repetier host the EEPROM settings are grayed out why?

3- I have -/+ 5 degrees temperature swings -hot bed is off- , is this normal and acceptable? I followed a fix (Wanhao i3 - Additional Grounding) but I'm not sure there is a big difference -attached left with additional grounding - Right without additional grounding?

4- PID Autotune, not working, M303 does nothing, why?

5- Should I throw away this board?, the only option available near me is the MKS GEN-L v2.0 , is this a good choice?

1) is not a question
2) Repetier host expects Repetier firmware with a Repetier formatted eeprom. Or eeprom is disabled.
3) no this is to high,
4) ??
5) hell yes, its 10+ years old. and 8 bit. The MKS GEN-L v2.0 is also really old and 8 bit. not any better really.
thanks ,1- meant whatrrp stands for ? RepRapPro ?
4 - when send M303 , nothing happens , the command won't work wont do anything...

the firmware name is just a string the person who compiled it set. rrp could mean anything

If M303 does not work then it is likely the firmware was complied for bit bang mode, not pid mode

OK so worth flashing a new firmware to fix the temp swings ?
