PSA bad endstops!

Sadly I don't recall where I got these makerbot clone endstop board from.

The top image is what I received, the bottom is what they should look like.

Due to them not matching standard physical layout I never attempted to use them on anything till now.

Now that I designed something to use them, I tried them, only to find they do not work.. They short vcc to gnd!!

The issue is that switch they used, not only does the lever point the wrong way. the switch pins common, normally open and normally closed are when soldered into the pcb reversed!

so
    C -- NC
   NO -- NO
   NC -- C

If you have any of these laying about I strongly suggest you take a hammer to them!

... or realign/resolder them smoking smiley

You could put the switch under the pcb, or cut a bunch of tracks and add bodge wires. Or put the correct switch on it. A hammer is more satisfying!

... with this JST-connectors it's not really a problem to rearrange the wires (by releasing the nose with a needle and extract and reinsert the wires) - had to do this with a bunch of 20x connectors, when one of our suppliers "mirrored" an order of our PCB's for a sensor, we manufactured then for Siemens ... and they (Siemens) were in urgent need for a small series, before the "correct" PCB's could be made eye rolling smiley

breaks the led indicator and puts the signal pull up after the switch...

Well this is what I purchased and your switch is just installed backwards.

Remove switch, carefully bend the switch leads to the other side and resolder.

Uh no...

1 legs are rubbish metal and will not bend 180 without breaking
2 they used the wrong switches, there are left and right hand versions of the switch
3 I designed something that uses the lever where it is, the standard placeent would make it look horrible
4) I've gone a different route

A new pcb with correct wiring for that switch. Im just going to transfer over the parts. I just want two that work with the lever backwards. (I have 3 of these broken ones)

This is just for my amusement, not planning on making gerbers publicly available

... if thinking about resoldering - cut the legs of the switch at the "knee", then reverse it and fix the cuts by soldering ... schould be mechanically sturdy enough to work as meant to ...

Went with a different switch
I cut the switches down an turn switch 90 degrees to make it smaller for my filament run-out.

Will Change design to suit these Creality style switches end stop switches.
Then will have created a even small filament run-out switch.
