Prints become staggered...

Never had this problem until now, whenever i try to print something the second layer of my print is farther back than the first layer, causing a staggering problem, anyone know the cause? someone posted something about this before but i couldnt find the thread...

... try to lower your bed temperature ...

Sounds like it's skipping steps. If it uses bushings I would try lubricating them again. If it uses bearings check for friction on the axis with the stagger.

the other thing that can cause this is a slipping pulley (slipping on the motor shaft)

And:
Check that there is a little wiggle to the belt - not too tight, not too loose
If you have a potentiometer to adjust current to the motor, try increasing the current, it may be too low
Also if you are running your speed (feed rate in SF) try slowing it down
Ensure that all connections from the motor to controller are connected securely

I had a very similar problem and I believe it was associated to my travel/feed rate - I went from 40 down to 30 (using a gen 6 board)

currently im running 16 feed/flow rate, i just wanted to make sure it wasnt a software issue but a hardware one, sounds like it is, thanks guys

I had a similar problem and solved it by changing my SF temp settings. First layer was set to 210 the rest 190. By setting all layers to 210 the problem went away.

Posting a picture would be useful.

my prints all run at higher temps 252C the high temp of the extruder makes it run over plastic that melts out of the way if it would normally catch on the extruder. So higher temps do help, but the main issue is too much plastic is being put down for the current layer height used. Also your corner speed in skein speed settings should be lowered if much higher than normal speed.

Test these first:
keep your travel federate below 100mm/s, also lower your z travel speed to ensure it is below 30mm/minute for testing. it could be your z axis is skipping first and your layer height is not at where it should be.

then change temp.
decide what temp to use and stick with that temp.

then change settings by experimentation:
increase layer height in skein in about .01mm per time by height until it no longer skips between layers,

to make it faster use this calibration cube [www.thingiverse.com]
