Teacup or Sprinter for a Sanguinololu?
August 26, 2011 10:20PM
I've read through a few threads about Teacup and Sprinter, but most of it has been extremely technical and nothing has really answered my question. I'm building a Prusa Mendel and I have a sanguinololu 1.3a. What would people recommend for firmware, and why?

I use Sprinter on my Sanguinololu. It works well and produces some beautiful prints. I have not used Teacup though, so I can't do much of a comparison.

I was planning on using Replicatorg+Skeinforge, but if there's a better option I'm all ears. What do you like about Sprinter? Why'd you choose it over one of the zillions of other firmwares? spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Well i like pronterface because skeinforge in built in,
There are quick settings which are good enough start,
but fine tuning is in skeinforge.
Now i have replicatorg, but had gotten my printer working until pronterface and sprinter.
Also both are coded by the same group.
Ill try repg some time soon.
I am stickin with sprinter tho cause it works.

I'm assuming that both sprinter and teacup are just the firmware of the sanguino board and don't have a preference for the computer operating system, What I mean is will they work on Windows or are they Linux only?

Firmware runs on the chip and couldn't care less what your OS is. So long as the driver software you are using can talk to the firmware, it'll work.

Does anyone have a list of advantages of Sprinter over teacup? Aside from SDcard support, is there any reason to switch?
