Hi folks. I´m new to the forum, and discover the reprap recently. I found it very interesting, and I have a question, because I don´t work with mechanics or electronics (know a lot of, but not deeply). Someone can tell me if it´s possible to adapt one of these machines to prototype directly in casting wax material? As the ABS has a melting point higher than the wax, I imagine that cannot be a problem, but I imagine that it would demands a recipient for the wax, and maybe should be some problem with the flow of the material, probably will be higher than plastic... well, someone can help me to understand this?

If you print in PLA you can use it in place of the wax.

But PLA incinerates completely when the mould is build? Because that´s what happens with the wax. When the mould is builded, it´s heated until all the wax dissolves and evaporates, still no residues on it. Until I know, plastic materials lets amounts of carbonized materials. I really don´t know if this happens with PLA...

It becomes very thin liquid and runs out. I think any residue then evaporates just like wax. That is what people that have tried it report.

Take a look at HotWaxSyringe or Waxuum. Some variation of these might be a solution.

Humm, but this one uses extractive process instead deposition. It´s interesting, but I believe that cannot create geometries like the image attached... I imagine that should be work similar to a milling machine...
