I am usually at the Kansas City Robotics Society meetings each month. That is a good place to get a local RepRap group started.
Our meetings are the first Saturday of each month at Union Station in the Science City's Town Hall meeting room. The times are from 12:30 to 2:30 PM. www.KansasCityRobotics.org. There is no charge for these meetings.
I am also involved in getting an Inventors Workshop started and hope we will see some RepRap people there too. That is through the HMS_Beagle Science Store www.hms-beagle.com.
Personally, I've started building a McWire machine and have also started teaching robotics workshops around the city using the same SolarBotics motors as the extruder and DC Motor Driver circuitry in our robotic projects.
