Need help with software & LCD hookup
September 29, 2014 06:41PM
I purchased my 3D printer from DIYTech, overall the kit was OK, but they are very slow to respond (email) for support.

The assembly guide only provides HW assembly illustrations.

I need help with:
  1. Wiring stepper motors to controller
  2. Programming the Arduino firmware
  3. Doing a test print

I'm willing to lug my printer over, it's the Iron 3D 12" x 12" Prusa based printer.

Thanks! Caesar.

use the red crimp connectors like on your car to hook these wires to the motor wires. this is what i did with my DIY Tech shop kit.

Make sure you put the jumpers underneath the steppers to activate 1/16 microstepping. this is often not mentioned anywhere, ever. but is very important. search for microstepping.

Once you have the arduino software from the website, you'll have to go through and set everything up. this is very important to do yourself because you will need to be in the firmware a lot in the first couple weeks making changes. Once you have your steppers adjusted right for amperage you'll be tweaking firmware nonstop for awhile until you get things moving right.
