OpenSBP for Reprap?

It looks like Shopbot has come up with their own alternative to G-Code which they've just open-sourced. I know that the Reprap project has a G-code library, which I haven't had the luxury of examining as closely as I'd like yet. So I'm asking those more knowledgeable than I: would this be a useful thing to try to adapt to the Reprap project, or does it not offer substantial benefits over what we're using now?

(I'm especially asking Chris Meighan--if he's still around--since I know he was working on an improved version of the G-code firmware.)

If the consensus is yes, in the coming weeks or months I'd love to look at what it would take to adapt for Reprap use.

It looks like they didn't actually open-source anything, they just released the specification for the OpenSBP description language.
I might be wrong, but I peeked around and only found Windows binaries of their tools.

Sorry, I was a little unclear with that last post. Shopbot hasn't open-sourced their software, no, just the spec ("open sourced" as in "they've released it for free and have provided a mechanism to extend it"). As far as I know right now, they do only provide binaries of their software, and any open-source code would have to be made from whole cloth, as it were. That's why I'm asking whether the community thinks it would be a worthwhile endeavor to write a driver for this, since it would be a more substantial effort than just refactoring existing code.
