"Internationalize the software and localize into at least one non-English language"

Hey,

I found that one goal of Mendel is to "Internationalize the software and localize into at least one non-English language".

Just wondering, what should I do if I want to help the software internationalized or localized? Say, to translate the user interface of Reprap Java Host into another language? To "promote" the Reprap to non-English speakers? Yeah I'd like to know some more specific goals/ideas.

I'm an English/Mandarin/Cantonese speaker and I'd love to have more Asians get to know Reprap.

Welcome aboard!

I'd suggest starting by copying documentation, perhaps while building a machine.
We've got a wiki, so it should be straight forward to dive right in, reading and translating. Also, notes on sourcing materials can be very helpful, so you may want to document that part of your process.

I think documentation takes precedence over translating the controller software, since a sinophone user-builder may need to build a machine before using it. Once it's running he/she will be powerfully motivated to figure out the software regardless of language issues. That said, the controller software needs to be translated as well.

The easiest way to do that is to go to a local hobby robotics/Robo-one group meeting with a bunch of parts and start soldering/chatting with folk.
