I just had a frustrating hour or so trying to communicate with and test my powercomms board. It turns out I was the victim of a known issue in Ubuntu Feisty Fawn. As I'm sure a signicant portion of us are using Linux and the majority of those seem to have some version of Ubuntu I thought I'd make you all aware of this : [
ubuntuforums.org].
The problem seems to be the Braille screen reader installed by default causing issues with USB/serial converters.
Cut and pasted from the article:
I looked around and found this -
Code:
sudo aptitude remove brltty
The first solution involved removing ubuntu-desktop so I skipped that one, the second solution worked well.
brltty is used to drive a braille screen reader, so if you are not using one you can remove it safely.
