Does the Darwin use a straight rs232 cable?

Yes, the generation one electronics definitely does. I'm not exactly sure how the arduino electronics connects but I'm assuming that's a straight cable too.

the arduino electronics uses the same connection you use to connect it to your computer to program it. in most cases this is a normal USB cable.
