Shout-Out from Paso Robles...wanting to build a Mendel

Are we still active?
I'm wanting to build a Mendel, but would like to see (touch) some sample parts from an existing Mendel (clone)...Anyone in the area have a functioning unit? Could I come by and see it?

How about workshops? I would be willing to help/participate...either in SLO or North County...

Thanks!

Hey SnapDaddy. I'm in the area (live in A-Town, work in San Miguel) and also interested in building a Mendel. I have no experience with the software/design side of using the machine however. This might be a big learning curve?

Maybe we could work on something together if you are interested.

Hey there gmickey2001,

I'm in A-Town as well, work in Paso... My build is currently on hold and never really started. I originally got the folks here at work (Hogue Inc.) interested, but then received some samples and it was determined that they were too course for our needs.

So, I'm not much help at this point... keep me posted as to your progress!

I'm curious about the product finish being too coarse. Is this with or without finishing? Do you think the parts would be acceptable for most applications and just not yours or is the finish quality quite poor?

Thanks.

For what it is, it is very usable. We just need a bit more precision and finish then is possible with the current extrusion nozzles/materials available. When I get a chance, I'll post photos of what I have!

The big trend seems to be changing the size of the nozzle.
all that has started recently.
the smaller nozzle allows for better resolution.

My prusa is in transit now.
cant wait.
I totally understand that some people need to have a fine finish.
Its possible with a little post-processing elbow grease from what i can see.

This is of course speculation.

when i get this thing going i would more then happy to figure a way to meet up
