Ran across this yesterday: [www.instructables.com]

I guess the concept is that you can use the board for development and testing, then transfer the chip over to a custom board. Would that be of any interest?

LOL! Zif sockets are terrifically expensive. I guess that I'm just super careful, but I've never had any trouble inserting and extracting 40 pin PIC chips literally hundreds of times out of a standard socket with a small, narrow-bladed screwdriver.

Yeah, I do the same thing. If it's a chip I know I'm going to swap out frequently, I'll double-socket it so that, even if I break a pin, I'm only out the price of a socket. I did this with the PICs on the Darwin boards, for example.

i could see how that would be useful, if you wanted to program multiple chips if you were selling a kit, or something of that nature.

day to day, it doesnt make much sense, especially since arduinos are self-programming =)
