Gosh it's been a long year... and nothing to show RepRap wise (life + work...)
Anyway, I thought someone would be interested in this. If you can handle TQFP-64 chips at least.
Rabbit RIO. With a 40MHz input clock, it can operate at 10MHz. SPI mode. 8 channels that can be configured in many ways but most importantly as a full H bridge per channel with short circuit protection and 16 bit PWM and shootthrough protection timing or as a full quadrature encoder interface with a 16 bit counter. This equates to four full DC servo motor drives.
I'm currently trying to figure out how to make this thing work since it's so MANY useful connections but good, heatsinked MOSFET drivers take up space. Given the way I work, I'm considering doing RS-485/422 quad TX and RX drivers on the appropriate channels. Put the mates on a DC motor board and on the feedback boards (encoders?) and wire with standard RJ-45 jacks.
