When using a RUMBA controller what pin is used for SDSS ?
December 18, 2016 10:53AM
So I have my RUMBA controller setup and everything is basically except the SD card.
Checking pins_RUMBA.h file, pin 53 is defined for the full graphics controller.
This is the same pin that RAMPS 1.4 uses. However for RUMBA it dose not appear to work. If I plug the SD card into my RAMPS printer it works but not in the RUMBA.
I notice that in the RAMPS pin file both LCD_SDSS and SDSS are used but is RUMBA only SDSS is used.

I can think of only reasons for this. 1 It is the incorrect pin or 2 the SD Card is formatted incorrectly for the RUMBA controller.

Should the #define LCD_SDSS be used instead of SDSS?
So is pin 53 the correct one?
What format should the SD card be?

thanks.

Well all I can say it that it looks like the same pin #53 is used for both RAMPS and RUMBA.
So why the SD card works with RAMPS and not with RUMBA is a mystery to me.
Perhaps there is bug in the firmware that I have not found yet.

Well as it turns out, it was how the SD card was formatted.
I am using Windows 10 and it gives me 4 options for formatting the SD card.
NTFS, FAT32, FAT and exFAT. I do not know how SD card was formatted when I received the card.
So I started with NTFS and I found the neither the RAMPS 1.4 or RUMBA controller would read the SD.
I then tried FAT32 and FAT. Both were readable by both controllers. I did not try exFAT since FAT32 and FAT worked.
So it had nothing to do with the RUMBA board, but with the formatting of the SD card.
