nophead's vitreous enamel resistors

since I can't seem to post comments to nopheads blog (the captcha just says "Loading..." and never loads) I'll ask here in the forum:

where did you get the resistor pictured here? what is the part number?

I can't seem to find anything equivalent on all the usual sites (digikey, jameco) but mouser did have something similar:
[mouser.com]

But I'd rather not make an order to mouser just for a resistor.

Hello fenn,
No idea why you can't comment on my blog, others can.

I got them from RS [uk.rs-online.com]

Farnell also list them but they seem to have stopped selling them. It may just be a bug in their web catalogue. It shows the non ROHS version with a link to a replacement, but it actually links to a 4R7.

The Mouser one is longer and thinner and a lower wattage but may work if you make the aluminium block longer.

Nop: I am not able to comment on your blog, either. When I try, a captcha window drops down and says that it is loading the sequence that I am supposed to type in to preclude spamming.

The problem is that the sequence never loads and you just wait indefinitely. I tried to comment with both Firefox and Internet Exploder and got the same result.

You might want to look into that.

Yes it seems to be broken at the moment but it was working a few days ago as I have to fill in capchas if I am not logged in. Also somebody posted anonymously this morning so they should have had to use a captcha.

I do know Google had some problems with email this morning.

Presumably if you log in to blogger it will work?

I have turned off captchas so it should work now.

I think digikey does carry these. I put "RWM" into digikey's search, and seemed to come up with the same (Vishay, up to 450 deg C.) resistors

the digikey p/n is RWMB-6.8CT-ND
the mfgr's p/n is RWM06226R80JA15E1
This part is avail in min quantity of 5. There's another p/n (cheaper) per resistor, but 250 min order.
