I took one apart and had a poke around what is inside of the supply.

The look quite decent for the price. So I would say go for it.

Thanks for taking a close look at that PSu! I've been using the 12V 300W version (which is fanless) of a similar power supply to power my printer for the last 6 months, with no apparent problems.

Was the ripple really as much as 1Vpp? It looks a lot less on the scope trace in your blog entry.

If your really lucky you get one that blows up



Other fun faults I have seen:

fan upside down...
fan temperature switch replaced with a wire
case so thin most screws have pulled threw. (leaving metal fragments inside the case)

You are right, it is more like 0.2Vpp. I just had a look at it again, it is indeed only 0.2Vpp
