Rumba control board stepper issues
April 15, 2018 05:07PM
I just received a rumba control board for my printer and after flashing the marlin firmware to it, and connecting the steppers, they don't seem to move far enough. They are moving in the correct directions, but when the screen says the extruder is at the max distance, the extruder has only moved about 1 cm. This happens on all axis X, Y, and Z. I'm guessing its in the firmware, but I don't know where to start to fix it.

check the microstepping stetting (switches under stepper driver modules)

and check the steps/mm setting in firmware

What the number should be depends on what type of stepper driver you have, what micros stepping you have enabled and the mechanics of the machine

So I see the switches, but the configuration shown in the wiki for the board isn't working. I am using A4988 stepper drivers and set the microstepping to 1/32 to match the firmware.

Nvm, I have the steppers moving correctly, but they are making an annoying high pitched noise when they move. What would cause this?

A4988 stepper drivers dont have a 1/32 micro stepping option max of 1/16

If your actually have drv8825 they do 1/32 but if you have poly matched stepper motor, they do squeal
