MKS Gen L v1.0 and BTT TMC2209 - Sensorless homing
August 09, 2022 01:52PM
Hi all,
I have bought a new MKS gen l v1.0 and 2 BigTreeTech TMC2209 drivers. They have 5 pins on facing upwards (PDN, PDN, CLK on long side, DIAG and VREF on short side).
The board does not have 9 pins below driver like SKR and newer versions of MKS.

How do I connect the top pins to make StealthChop and Sensorless Homing work?
Please advise for connections and software both.

I have bent the 2 downward pins(DIAG, VREF) near pot and 2 pins from long side (both PDN) as instructed in this video

this is really the wrong sort of motherboard for this...

You need to enable UART on the tmc2209s, to do this you need make a wiring harness and connect up ttmc2209 serial pins to the controller.
This is not simple... On the controller you need to use hardware serial ports or specific IO pin must be used that have change interrupt hardware feature

This is covered by the youtube video....

For sensor-less you need to connect the tmc2209 diag pin to the endstop io pins.
