Which one is better: Shapeoko, X-Carve, mydiycnc?

I need to mill some wood (about 30-47 cms) and small aluminium parts, and I wish it costs less than 1500 USD

Any opinion on these machines?

On aliexpress they sell 3040z and 6040z mills with a very good price. I don't have experience with them, but they look mechanical quite good. You likely want to replace the electronics with a ramps board or so. Parallel ports are hard to find nowadays.

Yeah but xcarve looks like 1000x better than these chinese versions no?

While shapeoko and xcarve look phenomenal, both use belt drives. Precision will be limited, but good for wood and plastics. Just do not expect fine traces on printed circuit boards, maybe 0.5mm traces with some luck.

The Chinese ones use ball screws which ideally provide way better accuracy and precision, but they are Chinese screws, so who knows? You should be able to use the original Chinese controller just by figuring the correct mapping from arduino uno + GRBL to the parallel port connector on the controller.

I should say I have not tested either machine. My opinions are only from observations online.

I am considering buying a local mechanical parts kit for R$3000 (Brazil currency, about US$ 800), with ball screws and a 1000x800x100mm work area. I'm my case this will end up cheaper than importing any of the other machines (~100% import duties plus a crazy high shipping cost).

I would avoid the Chinese kit. I dont own one, but everything I have seen of other Chinese kits indicates that they have no support and terrible documentation.

You will be suprised what a shapeoko can handle plus its has good support better than those chinese machines

I ended buying a 1000 mm X-Carve. Very happy with it! still not much work done, just learning a lot about cnc software and stuff
