Testing Stepper Motors

I bought 4 used steppers on Ebay. They are described as:
Type 103H5208-0842
Sanyo Denki
2.0 OHM
STEPPER MOTOR, 1.8 deg 200 steps/rev when full-stepping

Description of their wiring was as follows:
RED = A
BLUE= B
YL = A-
ORG = B-
BLK = COMMON
WHT = COMMON

My problem is that the wires are all the same color on the actual motors so it doesn't do me any good. Can anyone describe how to test the wiring to determine what each wire on a stepper motor does?

figure them out with your multimeter- A+ to common should be 2 ohms, A+ to A- should be 4 ohms. you can ignore the common wires and use the A+ and A- etc if you want to use the reprap bipolar controllers, or you can hook them up to a unipolar controller.

I am not an electronics whiz but I can use a multimeter. I will be able to work it out from your description.

Got mine working tonight. The wiring order was:

1 = C
2 = A-
3 = A
4 = B
5 = B-
6 = C

Documentation was incorrect. Look at the terminal plug under a magnifying glass to see the pin numbers.

I have the TB6560 driver board 4 axis : and my prob is, z axis runs backwards
and X axis just locks up when prog run and Y seems to be good. all steppers
seems to hummmm pretty load after you jog them ,it you bump the jog again
the stepper will go quiet.. Can any 1 help have any ideas. O and i switched
X and Y , then Y locked up, and X worked
so the wiring is right as far as i know , I have set and reset mach 3
inputs and all 1 thing i don't have any idea on is the Output #1 and #2 so on in
the coufig of mach 3 in output#1 it shows pin 2 0 on the rest

I am out of ideas please Help
any 1 with any ideas will be very helpfull..

alscorp: Getting the Z axis to step in the right direction is quite easy - just reverse the motor wires - if they're using a plug, you usually can just turn the plug around. If they're using screw terminals, just reverse their order.

For the X axis, you'd do better to discuss it live with someone in the #reprap IRC.
