I couldn't find this in the wiki and spent a lot of time digging around in data sheets, so I figured I'd post it here to save others some time.

Nanotech ST5709S1208-B:

A+	Red
A-	Black
B+	Green
B-	Yellow

SureStep STP-MTR-23055:
A+	Red
A-	White
B+	Green
B-	Black

Stepper board pinout:

Pin (Y & Z axes)	Pin (X axis) Term
1 4 A+
2 3 A-
3 2 B+
4 1 B-

SureStep STP-MTR-23055 wiring

Pin (Y & Z axes)	Pin (X axis) Term
1 4 Red
2 3 White
3 2 Green
4 1 Black

Dear Sir,

I need to learn how to find stepper motor colour combination by measuring resistance with multimeter.thanks

Best regards,
JK

The colours for several types of stepper motor are here:
[reprap.org]

which tells you the ABCD colours: and then the board connectors are here:
[reprap.org]
I am having a step syn stepper motor from Sanyo Denki. Its model number is 103H8582-8044 and its Lot number is 09722. It has five colors namely Blue, Yellow, Red, Orange and Black. I dont know the sequence of those colors. Please tell me the sequence, that is in which order should i connect the stepper motor. Please reply to me as soon as possible.

Your answer is on the Sanyo Denki webpage
[www.sanyo-denki.com]

But here is the summary

Orange and Blue are one set of wires
Red and Yellow are the other set
Black and white are the commons (white may be tied internally)
Clockwise full step firing order is
Red Blue
Blue Yellow
Yellow Orange
Red Orange
I'll let you figure out the half step order

Sir,
i have with me SMC44G nanotec stepper motor controller. I want to understand the connection details of the terminal strip on this controller and its sequence of operation. also the dip switches signifance. If you could post me the datasheet of this module it would be better.
Expecting a immediate reply.

with regards

All of the documentation I see on the smc44g is in German, which isn't my native language so I can only roughly translate the following pdf file at:
[en.nanotec.com]

It's a 0 to 40kHz bipolar chopper for 5v or 24v bipolar steppers
The motor wires plug into the A, A/, B, and B/ on the right hand side of the controller. The 24V input power and ground go underneath those.

On the left side you get to pick if you want a 24V or 5V drive. The clock for which one you are using, and the direction.

I think the right and left sides are pretty obvious to english speaking people.

Now for the part where you need german.
The top row of 8 dip switches are divided into 3 groups
Group 1 is the first 3 dip switches and they control the stepping. See the pdf
under schalter 1 bis 3
Vollschritt is Full step
Halbschritt is half step
Viertelschritt is 1/4 step
Funftelschritt is 1/5 step
Achtelschritt is 1/8 step
Zehntelschritt is 1/10 step
Group 2 is dip switches 4-7 and they specify the amperage limit see the pdf for those settings. Set it to the limit or a bit under the limit of your motor.
Group 3 is pin 8 and it is the enable switch. Up position is enable (on), down position is disabled (off)

Anyone else who can read german and do a better translation, feel free to correct anything I have translated incorrectly - my technical german is pretty rusty.

Acording to a Google search it is this stepper :-

Guiqiu Sanyo Electric model 103H7523-8053

Other results indicated it is discontinued model.

So trying a search of the [www.sanyo-denki.com] site would be your next step using google.

This isn't a forum for helping random people from the internet use stepper motors. This forum relates to RepRap. If you want help with a specific stepper for something other than RepRap, you really should try Googling it or asking somewhere else.

Hi I have just bought a cnc router with zapp sy60sth66 3008bf stepper motors none of which are conected.
I have 4 wires
(1) red/White
(2) green/white
(3) black/white
(4) blue/white
On the driver board it states A+ A- B+ B- can anybody tell me what wires go where.
Many thanks Wendy

Try shorting two wires together until you find a pair than makes the motor much stiffer to turn. Connect that pair to A+/A- and the remaining two to B+/B-.

If the motor turns the wrong way reverse one pair.

I tried this; it seems there are 2 pairs that make the motor harder to turn both equally harder. Does it matter with pair I call A+ A-.
Cheers Wendy

Hi Wendy,

... you change the moving direction when reversing one coil - so you can screw the according pairs in the terminals, test, and reverse later, if the motor turns the wrong way ...

Dear sir,
i bought a six wired stepper motor in which it is written M42 SP-3 and the company name is MITSUMI .i couldnt find the data sheet as well as its colour code.the colour of the wires are yellow, blue, red, white and two green.kindly help me.
i have stepper motor.which code is 55SIM-25DAYG stepper motor but i don't know company name.i required polarity of the stepper motor like A+,A-,B+,B-,common.the colour code of the wire is
white
red
blue
brown
yellow

so,please give me solution of my query in my id immediatly
I have M42SP-5 unipolar stepper motor.I want to know the color cambination.
Thanks

Re: stepper motor wiring & color codes

I bought 4 used steppers on Ebay. They are described as:
Type 103H5208-0842
Sanyo Denki
2.0 OHM
STEPPER MOTOR, 1.8 deg 200 steps/rev when full-stepping

Description of their wiring was as follows:
RED = A
BLUE= B
YL = A-
ORG = B-
BLK = COMMON
WHT = COMMON

My problem is that the wires are all the same color on the actual motors so it doesn't do me any good. Can anyone describe how to test the wiring to determine which wire on a stepper motor does what?

Thanks
hi
i had two stepper motor

but i could not use them

becuse color wiering i dont mean

Can someone explain how I should be wiring them to the reprap stepper driver?
dear sir,

i recently bought a 6-wire stepper motor and i don't know how to wire it.
it has a brown, blue, white, black, red and yellow wire.can anybody tell me how i should wire it and the control sequences to be applied to turn it clockwise and anticlockwise. BIG THNX in advance.confused smiley

Examine the handy-dandy wiki page I just made in answer to your question.

stepper wiring wiki page

I figure it's the fourth time I've answered that question, time to make a wiki page. So I did.
