Sprinter firmware, All 3 axis going twice the distance

Am I missing something in the sprinter firmware?
In configuration.h where you set the Calibration variables,
I have to enter 1/2 the expected values for a Metric Prussa Mendel, to make my machine behave.
The board is set for Sanguinololu 1.2 and above = 62
I have all three jumpers M1,2,3 set for 1/16 stepping (1.8 degree steppers)
If I have values of 80 for X & Y the machine travels 200mm for a 100mm demand.
Settings of 40 and it behaves.
I'm wondering if there is something I am missing in the firmware setup?
Or have I been sold 3.6 degree steppers?
Regards

The microstepping on the electronics might not be the configured the way you think.

The motors purr and move smoothly, so I guess it's go with what works smileys with beer

Yes I have a Ramps 1.2 board and have the same issue even though the jumpers are set to 16x. My motors are 1.8 degree steppers but run 8x microstepping.

Perhaps you could also feedback how the machine runs to this reprap forum as it would be a help.
