Thanks for the reply. Yes it does move towards the min on all axis (i may have the mounted in a non convention way - so i have been told - for X&Y but Z stop is at the bottom). Its almost like the software is ignoring the opto stops position.
Below are my configuration.h settings if that helps diagnose the problem. I am running a preassembled opto endstop RRS-OE.
