Changing LCD Display info
August 11, 2013 05:15PM
I originally posted this under the RAMPS forum... Maybe get more attention here?

I would like to change the LCD display info.
Not sure where to start... So I'll ask!

Right now I have the default display setting:

Nozzle temp ---- Bed temp
Print Time ---- Z Height in mm
(percent) ---- Percent: SD
Heating Done

I would like to change the (percent) to the number of layers there
are in the format of X/Y layers. (Current layer/Total layer)
Or once the print has started, have the 'heating done' change to 'Layer: X/Y'
And maybe add a decimal point to the percent completed.

Anyone know how to proceed with these changes?

Thanks!
Chris

Okay,

I don't know exactly where to change the code, I'd have to check the source.
But I'd prefer to do it in the Repetier-Firmware 0.90alpha.

So, if you are willing to install and configure the Repetier-Firmware (you can use the actual version 0.83), I would see what I can do.

I went looking for this myself, too, and found this thread, which provides an example of changing the Marlin firmware to change a menu.

I really appreciate the help, but I must say I have my marlin tuned in so well, I'm a little nervous about changing over to a different firmware...
I do have it saved though and will look into the differences of Marlin vs. Repetier...
I'm away from the printer/system for the next week... so till I get my hands on it again...

not sure what the differences are between the two.... (Never looked into it)

It is anyway on my todo list.
I prefer Repetier-Firmware because it is better structured and has a "clear" Versioning. It seems to me that to many people are changing the Marlin-Firmware.
