Repetier temp error

Repetier temp error
August 30, 2013 10:48AM
I just started using Repetier firmware and host to run my Mendel (RAMPS 1.2, Windows 7).

It was printing just fine at first. But now it goes into dry run mode right at the beginning of every print and never actually prints anything. Based on the error it seems like it can only be coming from momentarily high/low temperature readings. I say "momentarily" because the temperature graph doesn't show any obvious peaks or valleys. It does the same thing even when the extruder is already at a stable printing temperature.

I'd rather not turn off the temperature error logic, or work around it by making the high/low artificially wide.

Is there a way to tell Repetier to just wait a few seconds to see if the temperature error repeats instead of turning everything off because of a single isolated anomaly?

Did you get an error message in Repetier-Host?

Check Configuration.h:
MIN_DEFECT_TEMPERATURE -10
MAX_DEFECT_TEMPERATURE 300

If you see "Printer set into dry run mode until restart!", the sensor temp is < MIN_DEFECT_TEMPERATURE or > MAX_DEFECT_TEMPERATURE.

Yeah, got the "dry run" error and that's the only part of the code I could find that referenced it.

So far I've gotten an hour of printing by carefully moving the temp sensor wires so that they aren't anywhere near any motors; particularly the Z motor. Maybe the Z motor's occasional spikes caused temperature errors large enough to put it into dry run. The temperature graph has shown several dips which look like errors, but they didn't put the printer into dry run. So...I dunno.

Moving the temp sensor wires around more seems to have stopped the errors, but when they crop up after an hour of printing they're kind of unacceptable. For what it's worth, I had to just increase the minimum limit so that it didn't error out anymore.

Dear members
who can help me with this problem
the sensor works and always gets this error message
it is an ultratronics v1.0 board
thanks

High temp like that is a short in the thermistor or its cables, or faulty ADC pin on your controller.

Unplug the thermistor, does it change to 0 ish? If so the pin is probably ok.

Hi Dust

Total 3d printing newbie here, sorry. Had the thing over 8 months and never got it going.

I'm having the same problem: -

temp sensor defect marked defect / Errortongue sticking out smileyrinter set into dry run mode until restart!

When you say unplug the thermistor, which bit is that, where in Repetier would it say 0ish, and where would I find the ADC pin?

Sorry to bombard you with questions.
