Need Help With Setting Up Marlin
May 22, 2015 08:17PM
Hello Everyone.
I was wodnering if anyone would be so kind as to help me get marlin all setup to flash to my ramps/arduino setup. While I can flash Marlin to the arduino I am at a bit of a loss when it comes to editing the files and proper settings to work with my custom printer. ( I am not a software guy lol )

I would like to run the newest Marlin ( Marlin 1.0.2 I believe )

Photo of my Printer.

Specs for most of my componets. If I left anything out that is need to properly configure marlin prior to flashing the board just let me know.

You "know" the pitch of your leadscrews, now you only have to calculate how many steps/mm are required. Depends on the Drivers. I´d recomment drv8[email protected]/32 stepping for those beefy Steppers.

You should set the speed and max. acceleration values low at the beginning.

The tricky part is assigning the endstops and stepperdirection in marlin. You can mess up the orientation with one wrong setting.
You should enable EEprom use, especially if you have a smart-LCD.
If you change settings and reflash the mega, you should send the M502 then M501 command in pronterface to make the new values permanent in EEprom.
Or use the smart-LCD to read standard-config ( M502) and then write EEprom ( M501) .

I had an extended " trial and error" time with that grinning smiley

PS: Nice Printer BTW. I would add rubberfeet to the frame, it will be quite noisy with all those leadscrews....
