Is it possible? Using cura with Octoprint works great. It has an option to update firmware with a hex file, Arduino will compile Marlin as a hexfile, It saves 2 versions (marlin_version dot hex and marlin_version + bootloader dot hex) . Which should I try? Don't have enough arduinos/ ramps sacrifice any if it doesn't work.....

well you cant upload a new bootloader without a ISP (hardware) so scratch that one.

No idea how cura does uploads though... I would expect that it emulates avrdude upload over serial, in which case there is an upload baud rate and protocol somewhere...

I was curious, so I took at look at cura... it uses protocol stk500v2 upload baudrate... I couldn't find before I got bored.
