Drifting while printing

Hi Friends,

I am new to this reprap forum and 3D printing as well. Just got my new 3d printer, at times it prints fine but at times in the middle it drifts, i mean the next layer does not fall on the previous and it happens at times in x-axis and at times in y-axis, I have checked the belt tightness and also if it is not getting excess supply but both are fine and moreover at times it prints objects just perfect with the same settings. Please Advise......

Are your stepper drivers well adjusted and enough cooled (fan or heater)? If they are too hot they can miss steps, this could explain your drifting issue…

Your question should be asked into printing thread I think… winking smiley

I had this happen when the filament was putting tension on the movement of the extruder by pulling on it. A physical rather than electronic problem.
