Prusa i3 help needed. Probably something stupid I am missing...

OK. I have a prusa i3 which I have been using for a while that is well calibrated. Unfortunately, the laptop's HD that I had everything setup on ended up crashing forcing me to rebuild the OS (Win 7).

I have my laptop connected via USB. When I launch repetier-host, I am unable to 'connect' to the printer. If I open 'printer settings', my connector is 'serial connection' and my port is 'COM3' (the only available option). But, when I attempt to connect to the printer, I get a 'Serial Com Error'. I think that there was a driver or something I need to setup, but, I don't recall exactly what nor how I need to do to communicate with the printer.

Can anyone give me a push in the right direction?
