Reawakening an old MendelMax 1.5

Gave/loaned my MendelMax 1.5 to a friend when I was moving a few years ago. He hasn't done anything with it for about 2 years and decided he needed it out of the way, so he brought it back. I'm learning Fusion 360, so it actually is good timing. I always just printed stuff from Thingiverse before - now I can design my own stuff to print.

So, it looks to be in decent shape. Little cleanup, tuneup, etc. But, any options come along in last couple years I should consider? What is the hotend of choice these days? I think it has a Wade's extruder - anything new on that front?

Thanks,
Wally

Things have come a long way in two years.

Nozzles have changed tungsten and ruby tipped nozzles.
Auto-bed leveling, Filament run-out sensors, Marlin 1.1.X, many version of slicers. dozens of new products.
