I am having trouble with the PTFE insulator melting,it appears to be OK at 185C (PLA) but starts to melt at 230C (ABS).
Is it that most of the DIY designs are for PLA and if you want to use ABS then you must make the insulator from PEEK.
Most of the commercial designs look as though they use PEEK.
Your advice, please.

Peek or all metal. People haven't been using ptfe for a structural component for a long time now because of the type of problems you are experiencing.

Thanks Greg.
It's a pity that the web hasn't caught up.
